SAİNT PİERRE HAN RESTORATION

Sen Piyer Han, or St. Pierre Inn is a historical inn located in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. It is located at the intersection of Bankalar Street and Eski Banker Street.

At the point where the inn is located, there was essentially a wooden building built in 1732 as the French Trade Representative and lodging. French poet André Chénier was born in this building in 1762. The historical plaque containing this information is located on the exterior of the current building.

After the building in question was damaged in a fire in 1770, a new, masonry building was built at the same spot in 1771 by François-Emmanuel Guignard, Count of Saint-Priest, who was the French Ambassador in Istanbul at that time. It takes its name from the nearby Saint Pierre Church.

The Constantinople Bar Association and the Italian Chamber of Commerce also operated in the building, which hosted the Ottoman Bank between 1856 and 1893.

Our restoration work has started in 2022 and our work is still continuing..
